Tracking in vehicle transfer: clarity for drivers and clients

If you regularly vehicle transfers you know that a good journey depends not only on the car - but also on how well everything around it is organized.

The clearer the information, the more relaxed the job runs. And this is exactly where tracking via the ONLOGIST app helps.

What is actually tracked? What is it all for? And what are the specific benefits for you as a transport service provider? Let's take a closer look here.

Tracking - a topic that raises questions

We know: The topic of tracking is not immediately welcomed everywhere. Particularly when it comes to digital tracking, concerns quickly arise - for example with regard to monitoring or data protection.

We take these reactions seriously. That's why it's important to us to create transparency and openly show how vehicle transfer tracking works at ONLOGIST - and what concrete benefits it brings you in your day-to-day work. Because the focus is on your success: through clear information, fewer queries, improved route planning and smooth processes - for all sides. H2: What is vehicle transfer tracking anyway?

Tracking only starts during an active vehicle transfer order - and only then does your smartphone transmit its current position to the ONLOGIST platform. As soon as you tap on "Start journey" in the app, GPS-supported tracking starts automatically in the background. You can recognize this in the app by the clearly visible banner "TRACKING RUNNING".

Only active during your order:

Tracking only runs when you actively carry out an order via ONLOGIST. No start without your confirmation - no tracking after completion. As soon as the order has been completed in the app, tracking ends immediately.

No monitoring outside the order. No hidden data. Only clarity when it matters.

What exactly is tracked during a vehicle transfer?

Only data that is relevant to the specific order is recorded:

  • Current location of the vehicle

  • Route actually traveled

  • Speed during the journey

  • Time and location of handovers

This creates transparency without you transfer driver have to constantly inform the client. The app does this for you.

Important to know: Your privacy remains protected

We don't see what else you do with your smartphone. We also have no access to your camera - only the photos that you save for the handover protocol are transferred to ONLOGIST.

The camera is only activated briefly - you can recognize this by the green dot at the top right of the display. This symbol usually appears on both Android and iPhones when the camera is active.

This is a system-side security feature that signals to you: The camera is now being used. As soon as the photo is taken, the dot disappears - and the camera is deactivated again.

And what does that do for me?

Good question. Tracking during the vehicle transfer offers you as a driving service provider many advantages - at first glance:

  • Fewer queries: clients can check the location of the vehicle themselves at any time.

  • Everything is traceable: If you are stuck in a traffic jam or have to divert, this is immediately apparent.

  • Better documentation: In the event of queries or handover issues, all information is already stored.

  • Professional impression: You show that you work reliably - without any extra effort.

In everyday life, this means less tuning, less need for explanation and more focus on driving.

What do I have to do?

So that tracking during car transportation works reliably, please ensure that the following settings are active on your smartphone:

  • Set location sharing for the ONLOGIST app to "Always"
➜ This allows the app to record your location in the background, e.g. when the screen is off.

  • Enable release for movement and fitness data
➜ Helps the app to recognize whether you are driving the vehicle and prevents false starts/stops.

  • Deactivate energy-saving mode
➜ Prevents your smartphone from stopping the app in the background and interrupting tracking.

  • Active SIM card in the device
➜ Ensures a stable data connection so that position and status updates are transmitted in real time.

This is the only way the app can correctly record the location during the transfer and transmit it to the client. As soon as you start an order, the tracking runs automatically in the background.

Incidentally, the tracking also provides you with interesting insights - e.g. on route length or driving time. It can therefore help you to optimize your processes in the vehicle delivery driver job even more efficiently.

Vehicle transfer with tracking: Why all this?

Tracking is now standard in many areas - from parcel delivery to car sharing. It also helps to make processes more transparent and simpler in vehicle logistics.

Vehicle transfer tracking via ONLOGIST is a specific application of modern telematics in fleet management - and enables clients to see where the vehicle is in real time. Without any calls or queries.

For mobility providers, this means that they can offer their end customers transparent live tracking of car deliveries - a service that is also familiar from other areas these days, such as parcel tracking. And: it strengthens your clients' trust in your work - because everything is well documented and traceable.

Did you know? The roots of GPS go back to the 60s

The technology behind GPS was developed back in the 1960s by Roger L. Easton at the U.S. Naval Research Laboratory. He was the first to combine satellite signals with high-precision atomic clocks - a groundbreaking innovation that later became the basis of the global GPS system.

Since the 2000s, the technology has also been available for civilian use - and today enables not only precise positioning, but also more efficient route planning. This saves time, fuel and emissions.

Conclusion: good technology that supports you in everyday life

Tracking vehicle transfers in the ONLOGIST app is not an extra, but a practical tool that makes your journeys easier. It ensures that orders are fully documented - without you having to actively take care of it.

We know that some people are initially skeptical about tracking. That's why we openly explain what data is recorded: only your position and movement to inform the client of your location and route.

In short: you drive - and tracking ensures transparency, proof and less effort for you.
